  • another strawberrie question

i am just a wondering,if there is any reason why strawberrie plants cannot be put in the same bed as currants and gooseberries,as in under and around, only i just had a thought,I could either save on space,or extend the strawberrie beds, well if i don't ask then i don't know,do I.thanks peeps

I don't know - but I've put 3 purple rasps in my strawb patch - I can't see space going to waste and as long as the rasp gets chopped back every year and the strawb runners are potted on to replace older strawbs, I can't see a problem.

My fruit bed contains, 7 summer rasps, 5 autumn rasps, 1 red gooseberry, 1 yellow gooseberry, 2 green gooseberries, 3 blackcurrants, 3 redcurrants, 6 whitecurrants, 2 blackberry bushes, 2 sloe bushes, 2 loquat trees, 1 medlar tree, 1 of my apple trees, 1 of my plums, 1 quince tree and - 25 strawberry plants (at the moment). Never had a problem with this mixture oh and I forgot the partridge in the pear tree (just kidding). And it really is not that large (about 20 sq. metres.)
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

thank you zazzen and sarraceniac,i have been looking at the space under and around the bushes, and thought, what a waste of space, and should help with some weed controll, and retain more moisture,
sarraceniac, you could always look out for a model partride,to put in the pear tree,
