Which is something else I fail to grasp with the allocation of gender in French. Clearly a banana should be masculine, as should beer, and yet, staggeringly, they are both feminine.
        I just dont get 'em.

See a Dr. immediately Greendean. You clearly have Musa sikkimensis.

Do you know somebody is actually selling and I quote 'Rhino poo in a box to grow your own bananas' on eBay? I have a staffie. Anybody interested in growing staphy-lococcus aureus?
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Strangely-most fruit are feminine and the fruit trees are masculine

.....and strangely a bloke's thingy is feminine too isn't it??

I know, there is no logic.
Still, keeps my neighbours amused when I use the slang word for *thinks how to put this politely* the little Bob maker, and insist it must be masculine. Even though, somehow, they have it as feminine!!!

I too have the banana Musa Basjoo - I grew all three from seed! Only about 4 years old so still needs over-wintering in the conservatory.

Ginger is a good plant for a conservatory, easy-peasy too!

I'm definitely spending too much time on the Vine - last night I dreamt about bananas growing outdoors in the gardens of a stately home

The question has to be...did they manage any decent fruits???
