  • Rooting Fig

I've got two cuttings from a fig tree that I want to root, I stuck one in water and one in compost. I don't know if this is the best way, does anyone know anything about rooting figs, what's the best way, how long will it take and are they easy or hard to get to root? And also is it better to keep them warm or cool?

Thanks smallblueplanet, great link! I got another cutting and did the bag thing with it so I've now got three different cuttings rooting in three different ways... I wonder which one will root first?

I root fig cuttings by pushing bits of stick from pruning in ex tomato pots, usually get several cuttings a year to root and start growing by summer following, I don't like to take cuttings while the tree is in growth as it loses a lot of sap.
