The fruit bushes for the school allotment arrived today so I have taken them to my allotment and locked them in the greenhouse so they dont get nicked until I get chance to plant them on the school plot this weekend.
Luckily I have plenty of well rotted manure to enrich the soil where tey are going.
We have got 2 blackcurrant, 2 redcurrant, 2 gooseberry and 2 rasberry bushes, they were provided by the council for £2.25 each and the school footed the bill for them as well as for 4 apple trees that we are going train as cordons outside the staffroom.
The head of finance did ask when she could expect some fruit, but I told her it would be a couple of years before they would produce properly (If Im doing the work then I want something for it)
