Has anyone grown kiwi's? i have heard that they aren't too hard to grow and would love to try but wanted to see if anyone had been successful.

I bought a kiwi 'issai' a few weeks ago (self-fertile miniature kiwi) - it didn't look very healthy when I got it, but it's been living in a pot in the unheated greenhouse since then and it's got loads of leaves, and what I think might be a few flower buds on it... I have no idea if it will produce fruit or not, but I figured it was worth a try!

Hi Jenny is the one for the UK....mine is in the garden now...needs a very sunny position to get the best from it.......hope that helps

That's what mine did. I bought one last week from Wilkinsons which was in fine health, thinking it was warm enough in the greenhouse I left it in there overnight.

The following day the leaves were drooping and dark, like yours by the sound of it.

I brought it in and over the past two days a few more new shoots have appeared so I think it will be fine if you bring it indoors to recover.

I'm growing kiwi Jenny. It was quite rampant last year. This year I have had to move it, so cut it right back and its just started to produce new leaves.

hmmmmm bit worried about these Issai stories - just got one myself - only about 6inches tall at the moment with about 6 sets of leaves bursting through. Do we think they're a bit delicate when small? - they're supposed to be very hardy indeed....

Thanks for replying , i now have 2 to choose from. I can't wait. I think the miniature one sounds good as i don't have loads of space and already have 4 fruit trees and i want to get some veg growing too, so a little one would probably be better for me. Thanks again
