I was wandering around B&Q this afternoon and they had a dwarf cherry tree for £17, which I very nearly bought but didn't in the end because I had never heard of the variety and the label didn't say if it was self-fertile or not... And £17 is a lot for another plant! The variety was called either Piedmont or Piermont - I'm not sure which one - it was definitely that, I just can't remember if it was an R or a D in the middle! Does anyone know anything about that type of cherry? I googled it and looked through my gardening books but have come up with nothing...
I'm kinda wishing I had bought it anyway as there were only two left and it looked very healthy (and I got a dwarf peach from there last year and it's currently covered in blossom and looking gorgeous!) Thinking a return trip might be in order this weekend, but I would like to know something about that type of cherry before I pour money down the drain, especially if I'm going to need a pollinator as well!
