Honeyberry

I am always on the lookout for new and unusual stuff and a couple of weeks ago I saw in DT Browns catalogue a honeyberry. Never heard of them before that and then last night they were selling them on QVC. I ordered mine from browns as soon as I saw it so am just awaiting arrival. They are supposed to be easy to grow and come from the outbacks of Russia so are very hardy. You need two for pollination and apparently are an absolute must for kids. Can be eaten raw, cooked and make good jam. Will keep grapes posted as to how they get on. Has anyone else grown them. All information greatly received.

I've also just got a couple - the species one and 'blue velvet', only got them in march so don't know what they're like yet

Noticed the GYO mag was talking about them and again was tempted. Found out the Guardian was selling Honeyberry plants.

I have just orderd mine from Van Meuwen in 9" pots, 3 plants for £14.90. They have acknowledged my order and delivery is due for July so it looks like I will have to wait for next year before trying this fruit.

hi peeps,thought i would wake this up,and see what you think of them,presuming you has a crop,

I bought from DH Brown but I won't get a crop until next year. After buying I noticed T&M are also selling Honeyberry plants - cheaper. My birthday is in November so guess what I want for my birthday The plants from DH Brown are about 6" high and are growing and spreading as I type.

Mine were planted up in pots this year until my gardens sorted out. They set a few fruit but later fell off so I didn't get to find out what they tasted like. They're still very small plants really so I was surprised they set fruit at all.

Mine have started to grow but not a great deal and I think I will be lucky if I get anything next year. Still I always expect to have a bit of a wait with fruit but usually it is worth it.
