Summer Raspberry question

A couple more of my canes are now showing signs of growth - but not shoots coming off the old cane above ground, this is new shoots coming up an inch or two from the old cane - thought it was thistle at first until I spotted the pattern ! Hopefully this means we'll get enough for some fruit next year.
