When do flowers appear on grapevines?

BarleySugar - do the flowers grow directly on the main shoots, or do they grow off the laterals between the main shoot and the leaves? Hope that question makes sense! Just want to know where to look out for flowers

Here's a pic of what I mean. That is the main stem growing, and there's now little shoots appearing between the leaves (the laterals??)

Sorry to keeping this post alive...but was looking at one of the growing shoots on my Saint Laurent vine this evening, and I'm sure something that looks like flowers was growing! Not sure if it is yet, it could just be folder up leaves, but fingers crossed. What do you think?
