last year we got a nectrine tree, from a good reputable place we thought it had peach tree leaf curl and treated for this, however the tree has pretty much died, now having done some research it seems that it has fireblight, the worst diease ever, and if thats not bad enough it looks like it could be spreading to my pear trees, so mums of to the garden centre for bitumus thingy it say to use to treat it and the infected branchs of the pears are to be cut off and the freshly cut branch treated with the bitumus, the nectrine has been cut down and bagged to be burnt as recommented. hopefully can save the pears. looking back as we thourght the tree got sunscortched last year a few weeks after it arrived we think it probably infected when purchased but as its ayear on i dought the garden centre will replace it. but boho wanted a nectrine this year and hopefully wont lose the pears, its not touched the apples or cherries, but if fire blight cant gaurentee any are save even if treated.

Fireblight is certainly a disease to be feared and can cause heavy losses to susceptible trees in a matter of weeks when conditions are ideal for it's spread.
But has it been both warm and wet enough for fireblight to get established?

think the nectrine tree started with it last year if not it had the peach leaf curl but think we assumed peach leaf curl when it was fire blight as the nectrine produced 3 leafs that quickly died no bloosom this year and it looked as if the tree had been on fire, last year all bloosom died all leafs had red blisters and looked scorched, at first we assumed sun scorch then the leaf curl it didnt look like it had been on fire until autumn and definately realised it had got fire blight this year, the nectrine has been cut down and bagged for burning, the pears are being treated il try to get some pictures of the pear trees but at this stage not 100% if its fire blight on the pears but as the nectrine had it im treating as if they do as they were next to each other, and the pear leafs look like the nectrines did last year. really hope the pears and my others survive.

Best to assume that it's fireblight until proven otherwise. Be prepared to do some serious pruning to get off all the infected parts.
Fast and decisive action will be required to save most pear trees - especially younger trees. Cut off fireblight-infected twigs at least six inches back from the point at which the wood still appears healthy. Shoots that are younger than about three years are the most vulnerable to attack.
