  • Problem with raspberry

Hi raspberry canes were growing well, however they have developed black spots on the leaves. It is unlike anything I can find in the books or on line. It is as though someone has flicked black ink or paint all over them. It is tiny spots not large. however some of the leaves have withered and died.

I don't want to lose them can anyone help me please.

I already thought I had posted this thread but was unable to find it, so if it turns up elsewhere may I please apologise in advance.

The only thing I can think of is that it's black-spot, which is a fungal disease common on roses; though raspberries are a distant cousin, I believe. Whatever it is - and someone here will probably come up with a definite answer soon - I'd be very careful with the fallen leaves, remove and burn them so the disease can't spread or linger in the soil. This is just standard good practice anyway to prevent any disease, whatever it is. Normally you'd compost them, but if you suspect disease is already present don't.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Has anyone sprayed them accidently with water? In sunlight water can burn.
Or has someone painted their fence and flicked/sprayed it onto them?
There is a disease called cane blight, see if it looks likely...

Hi I agree it looks just like black spot, I have removed as many leaves as I can,but am not sure what to spray them with, the canes themselves are unaffected.
