Feeding rhubarb

Hi everyone
I am having a first attempt at rhubarb in a large pot. It is doing reaaly well since planting and already has two sturdy leaves plus more to come!
I was just wondering if you can use tomato feed on it as you can with strawberries?
If not can anyone advise which type of food to use?

I think tomato feed is used to encourage flowers - not what you want on rhubarb! If you want to give a feed maybe the slow release granules or a multipurpose liquid?
I feed mine in the autumn when the leaves die back by just dumping a big bucket load of compost/rotted manure onto the crown - you can easily do this even if it's in a pot

If it is a new crown then I would not pick any rhubarb this year (apart from a sneaky stalk or two later on!!!!!) to allow the crown to grow enough for regular pullings next year (some would say only pull on the third year).

A general purpose feed such as blood, fish and bone is better than tomato feed.

the best way to feed rhubarb is to put about 2-3 inches of manure(rotted or not) before it appaers through the soil or else put loads of manure around the leavse but not on top

I have to agree with Novice16, just put a pile of semi or well rotted horse manure over the crowns when the leaves die back in autumn.
