feeding strawberries

I made a new raised bed this year, using my own top soil (clay) and leaf mould (compost from garden) and topped it off with a bag of horse manure. I planted 9 plants early April, half nice big plants which are covered with flowers and a few green fruits and half smaller plants with no flowers yet. Should I be feeding them now I have been told I can use tomato feed and have bought some Tomorite, but read somewhere if you over feed you just get leaves - I have never grown strawberries before so be grateful for some advice.

I've never fed strawberries... I always get enough fruit to feed the whole street too. If I was growing in a container though, I do use feed, eg for tomatoes in the greenhouse.

As to feeding generally - nitrogen is good for leaf growth, and potassium for fruit. Tomorite is high-potassium.

I use blood,fish and bone for all my fruit,even the apple trees.

I use Phostrogen or Magic once a week..

Be VERY carefull about feeding them - did that last year to excess and got lots of lush growth and puny wierd fruit all core and no nice red juicy bit (went on compost).

This year I'm being mean and already the ones in the polytunnel are fruiting up
