Strawbs OK?

Should I be worried? They don't look either as leafy or perky as my other Strawberries in the other basket - same variety, basket and soil.
it could be over watering and we have had an awful lot of rain lately. I also did not pierce any holes into the bottom of that cardboardy type liner - wasn't too sure if that was necessary.
The roots look fine with no beasties.

Before I read what you'd said, I thought:

1.
Not enough water or not established their roots to soak up the water.

2.
Wind battered

3.
Crowns buried too deep

they are definitely planted too deep. They will rot.

I've pulled them out. The roots aren't very large or spreading, probably rotted away. No doubt a combination of too much water and too deep. The 3rd one in the same basket has extensive roots but even the leaves on that are starting to curl.
Odd how the 3 in the other hanging basket are doing well. The soil and the liner on that one is much drier and yet it's only 2 feet away from the other - against the very same wall. We've had so much rain lately that I don't think I've watered them for 2 weeks.
I guess it's all a learning experience.

They look like they've come straight from a greenhouse at a nursery and you've tried to stick them outside to fruit in the cold and in wet soil...and yes they are too deep

Here comes the hard bit. Those plants are not well established you shouldn't let them fruit..cut the flowers off!
