Cherry tree Dying

I planted out a cherry tree earlier this year and it is now dying. The same thing happened to a cherry minarette I had in the same garden last year as well. Any ideas? The leaves are turning brown and shrivelling up.
There were no special instructions, and I can't remember what type of cherry it is, my wife bought it from homebase. Does it need ericaceous soil?

Any help will be appreciated, ta very much.
