  • Is this some sort of egg on my raspberry?

I'm brand new to fruit growing and indeed hadn't intended to try any yet (got carried away at the garden centre). I have a lovely healthy looking raspberry cane .... apart from preponderance of orange blobs on the leaves, particularly the lower leaves. And the blobs aren't even solid circles, they look almost more like fat doughnuts .... but I suspect some sort of egg.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Many thanks

Hiya Caro, any chance that you can post a photo?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Best photo I can take (in the evening anyway) .... the round blobs look to have a hollow in the middle - as if they are rubber rings, rather than solid blobs. Does that make sense?

Does it look like this pic of raspberry rust?

The proof of the growing is in the eating.
        Leave Rotten Fruit.
        Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potasium - potash.
        Autant de têtes, autant d'avis!!!!!

Hi, sorry for the delay in my response. It's not that I don't appreciate you both (or anyone else) being willing to help, I've just been trying to get a better picture. My other half has the fancy camera!

I don't think it looks like the picture of rust posted. The best description I can come up with is it looks like cheerios cereal ...

Here's the new photo, hope it resembles something to someone!

          Many thanks

Initially I would have said rust but it isn't the right colour. If the whole plant isn't covered I would pick the infected leaves off and burn them. Sorry can't be of more help.
