Autumn bliss raspberry's canes

Hi All,

I bought autumn bliss raspberrys canes from B&Q. I planted the 5 canes, they put on a bit of growth, and now they've started floweing.

Should I chop off the flowers so they try and put on more growth? I thought they were supposed to fruit in autumn, and not now.

I want to get a good crop out of them, so wondering what the best course of action is.

I would leave them, I have Autumn bliss and the runners from last year have produced flowers and small fruit but the main canes have still a way to go yet. IIRC I didn't get huge amounts from the first year but the crop got better in succeeding years.

Ours flowered in the first year and we did try to remove the flowers, but they just put out more and more, so in the end we had to leave them or spend our entire time at the lottie mucking about with raspberry flowers, and we got a decent crop which in the years since has been massive. Admittedly we did plant 20 canes, but still. In subsequent years you'll cut the canes down to the ground in winter which means they have to start from scratch. In the first year they already have a bit of cane to start from, so I think this accounts for why the newly planted ones seem to be early. Though 'Autumn' in the case of Autumn Bliss does seem to mean August, which to me is late summer.
