  • Ist Year blackcurrant bushes

I'm a bit concerned about my 1st year blacurrant bushes which I planted last October. They seem to be growing fine but my concern is that I may not have planted them deep enough.
I have 4 bushes 2 are showing new growth from below ground level (which I think is OK) whereas the other 2 are showing growth from the main stem and nothing from below ground although they are the same size as the others.
Should I replant them deeper in Autumn or will they grow on OK.....all are showing signs of a few fruits.
    Thanks
    Dave

You don't plant them "deep". I suspect your first two might be too deep.
they sound find, I think you might just be impatient.

Just leave them to get on with it. I planted two a couple of years ago and was worried they might not be deep enough so i mulched round them. Year after planting I got a handfull of berries but this year it's a bumper crop. I think most plants are more resilient than we think.
