  • Strawberry care

It's the 2nd year for my strawberries and look very sad for themselves.
I had an 'ok' harvest from them but a few of them died off.
I didn't feed them at all and they are now starting to look a bit shrivelled.
    Should I have fed them?
Can I save them i.e. feed now or is it too late?

Are they growing in the ground, or in pots?

In the ground in a raised bed.
I did give them plenty of water but they do look sick

I lost a complete raised bed of strawberries to vine weevil, pull one of the sick ones up and have a look to see if it has any roots. If there are no roots then they have been attacked by vine weevil. It could be lack of watering but if this side of the country is anything to go by they won't have been short of water. Strawberries are quite tough little plants and will take quite a bit of neglect which is why I suspect vine weevil.

Have your raised beds got adequate drainage? I'm wondering whether you've drowned them.
