I have a clematis passion flower that is now bearing fruit. Is this edible and when should it be picked?

      Hi

I've merged your 2 threads, I'm sure you will get an answer with just the one.

      Cheers

Mine are always very insipid, no matter how much sugar I add.

Gave up with them as fruit and kept them for the flowers and cover.

May do, I would give it a go.

It may be that the ones I have are ornamental fruit.

How can I tell if they are ornamental?

Two years ago I planted a passion flower (Passiflora caerulea). This year I had lots of flowers and fruits, which ripened to a plum shape and were bright orange. Are these fruits edible?

Yes, but they are bland and woolly and not really worth eating. The passion fruit that is most commonly eaten is Passiflora edulis, although there are a number of locally produced varieties around the world. You can grow P. edulis in a greenhouse.

Welcome to the Vine! Interesting answer to the query but the original poster hasn't visited the forum for three years so may not appreciate your answer!
