  • Grape vine.

    Hi All,

I'd like to put my litle grape vine in the ground - to train up and along a west facing fence.

I was going to dig a square out of the lawn (by the fence), to put it in...what 'soil' should i use or should i add...anything in particular?

    Blood and bone? Soil Conditioner?

    Thanks
    Doozer.

I planted my Black Hamburgh straight into the ground in some very shallow, poor soil against the side of my house and it grows and fruits very well without any feeding, watering or pruning.
....and that's despite being under the roof overhang which prevents much rain getting onto the soil around it.
I am told that grape vines can grow some mighty roots to find the food and water they need - and that they'll go very deep if needed. Mine certainly appears to have done exactly that and is the easiest crop I've ever grown!
