Hello folks,
Can anyone identify this Pear variety please?
It's a very hard Pear, possbily some kind of cooking Pear? It's an old tree in my neighbours garden, 40+ years she reckons. They don't seem to ripen, just seem to rot on the tree then fall off.
I've picked a few and they do soften slightly indoors but the skin is very thick rough and tough, they're not sweet and the flesh is very granular.
I've attached some pics in the vain hope we might have a Pear expert amongst us!
Do you think they could be used for Chutney or some other cullinary use, seems a shame to let them go to waste or for my dogs to eat them all!
Many thanks
