Is this pear midge?

Hi - I have heavy loss due to this problem, i thought it was pear midge but fruit develops and falls of quite late in the season. Any thoughts?

Well, something is tunneling into the core, eating the pips and the fruits are being aborted. Quite often, I've found that earwigs getting in the bottom of the fruit are the culprit for that kind of damage, but it could easily be one of the maggot-type or caterpillar-type tunneling bugs.

thks - with further disection of bad fruit the culprit looks to be a thin, whitish caterpillar type creature that seems to be just in the base of the pear. It spins a thread when dropped and is fairly agile. About 10mm long.

Any thoughts?
