I have an enormous Fig tree near me and I was wondering how to take cuttings from it and propagate them... the same with Blueberries (but what time of year)?

Fig and Blueberry propagation

I take semi ripe fig cuttings in August or September, only about 6" long and take all the leaves bar one or two off and plunge them into a pot of soil based compost and overwinter in the cold frame or unheated greenhouse. I am sure others will have other suggestions as well. Strike rate is very nearly 100% and the resulting plants romp away.
As fior Blueberries, I utilise the prunings and cut them to 6" ish lengths and plunge several into individual pots filled with ericacious compost. Again, the pot is put into the coldframe until spring. However bottom heat works well apparently.Last edited by pigletwillie; 19-01-2007, 02:59 PM.
