Victoria is a lovely plum (personal taste), you won't go far wrong.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Ask 3 gardeners for their opinion and you will get 5 different replies. So I'm going to act as devil's advocate (again). The Victoria plum is a good all round plum for making jam, wine etc. It is also acceptable as a dessert plum. But if it is wanted mainly for eating fresh or making pies then there are better ones IMHO. Have a look at Opal, and the plum that is now the most popular in the UK, the Tsar. Also investigate gages, green and golden. Well worth a munch. Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

you can go for a greengage..very tasty..or marjories seedling also very good and more like a victoria plum...i have found that these wet summers seem to rob the fruit of their flavour...leaving them tasting insipid but i suppose it goes with this area. make sure you prepare the planting hole well as its going to be there a while.
