  • Peach leaf curl

4 years ago my children bought me a lovely dwarf peach tree, but sadly, after flowering and fruiting the first year it died. One of the stones from the fruit germinated in the garden and I potted it up, more out of sentiment than anything else. It is now about 4 ft tall, and I pruned it in the summer to restrict its size. Last year I moved it into the greenhouse early, but this year, because the tomatoes were so late finishing, the peach tree has stayed in the garden. I noticed today the buds are swelling a little, and to be honest, I think some might be flowers (rounder than the thin, pointy ones).
I am getting it into the greenhouse tomorrow, but I wondered what your opinions are on whether I will escape the peach leaf curl. I know its a fungal disease from rain splashes, and it attacks the leaf buds as they unfurl, but they haven't really started yet.
I will try to remember to find this post, and let you know the outcome, but just wondered if anyone has any experiences to share. I know I can spray against it, but I will need to do more research into that, as I never have done it before (I've always got the tree under cover)
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
    Now a little Shrinking Violet.

if its been outside during the winter if theres leaf curl anywere near by it will be on the tree so just spray with something before it does any damage and it shouldnt be a problem, something like bordeaux mix , dithane or captan kills leaf curl (not sure if you can still buy any of them though)
Living off grid and growing my own food in Bulgaria.....
