  • Blackcurrant varieties

Does anyone have views on the following Blackcurrants.Ben Nevis and Titania.A local garden centre has them on offer and I wondered if they were good ones. I've never heard of Titania but know that there are several Bens. Thanks

I think they have a Ben Nevis at mine.. I may have even bought it today (not sure, it was thornless whatever it is!)

...Varieties with 'Ben' in the name are late-flowering, without much risk from a late frost. 'Ben Sarek' is compact, 'Ben More' a heavy cropper and 'Ben Nevis' needs lots of height in the fruit cage.

I think the Bens are bred in Scotland and they do well in northern areas. I have Ben Sarek and it's a compact bush with heavy crops.
