  • Strawbs throug weed suppressant fabric?

    Hello,

I'm moving my strawberry bed and was wondering if there is any problem with planting through the black weed-suppressent fabric instead of black plastic? I've read a lot about people planting through plastic but nothing about fabric.

    Anyone else do this?

    Cheers,

    Stu

    Fabric is fine for strawberries.

My strawberry bed was done on fabric.
I have just extended the fruit area of my patch, so am going to be moving and enlarging the whole bed, and that will all be done through fabric.

Mine are planted through weed suppressant fabric and it works fine, lets water and liquid feed through and keeps the fruits cleaner.

I'd say it's better than plastic in that when I used plastic I found the rainwater would puddle where I'd leant on my hand reaching out to pick a strawberry just out of reach!
Much better for watering and feeding as northmaid says!
