Grape Vines

I bought two new grape vines last summer, red and white. No fruit produced last year, I didn't really expect any , but what do I do now, will they need pruning this year and how do you do it. I have checked on the internet before and it looks very confusing and also when would I need to do it please

My grape didn't produce any fruit the first year (it was only about 1-2ft when planted), but having reached several feet tall by the end of its first year, it produced several bunches in the second year and more bunches than I could count in the third year.
Mine grows up the side of my house and is basically left to do its own thing.
I just tidy it up with winter pruning - removing damaged, dead, crowded or awkwardly placed branches.

You are meant to prune back hard each year - we do it in January.

Hi,
As an interesting aside, take a look at this little beauty...

It is really quite straight forward. Whether you are growing them outside or in a greenhouse, you should tie your main shoots or rods along horizontal wires to form your main fruiting branches. Now cut off all last years' side shoots (laterals)back to your main shoots. Only keep one fruiting shoot (lateral) per spur or bud, and cut back the fruiting shoot after two leaves have grown past the flower spike.
