Moving fruit

In order to plant my new wind break,mixed hedge,some beech some red filberts, I need to move my raspberries and a tayberry,can I do it now before they start new growth?.

I would have thought so Burnie cos this is the time to plant them new after all, just make sure you dig round enough of the root system.

Yes this will be ok. Ive just moved my two tayberries as well. And im planting new raspberries. Take this opportunity to dig in plenty of composted matter to give them a good start.

We are keeping our fingers crossed as wee. We had to move some raspberries from a neighbours lottie before he took a match to them - he cant stand them - as they were free, we have lost nothing if some of them dont take!

When moving them do the necessary pruning before digging them up. ie cut back to the ground all autumn raspberries and cut out old fruited stems from summer raspberries.

Tie in onto new wires all of this years new summer stems.

They are pretty resiliant.

Cut off last years growth and loose all that fruit,you've got more chance winning the lottery,twice,with the same numbers...Looks like I'll be having a mixed hedge with raspberries in it then.
