This is one of those Unresolved Threads! Did BM's grapevine live or decease?

Scooby doo? Is that another of Wilko's weird and wonderful varieties?

If it didn't fruit, did it grow?

Yes it's growing inside the GH FB, to be honest it may be my own fault as I tend to neglect it in terms of feed.

I let my Black Hamburg do its own thing - just a ten-minute tidy-up each winter to remove dead or badly-placed shoots.
It's growing in fairly poor, fairly dry soil, full of builders rubble, and don't feed or water it - although it might sometimes manage to steal something from a nearby plant which did get fed or watered.

Sometimes too much water and nutrients will stop something cropping; it may grow a lot instead. Infertile, dryish soil in a hot, sunny, dry climate is ideal for figs and grapes as it encourages heavy cropping and suppresses growth.
I can't imagine that hot, dry, sunny and infertile are words that would describe your area - and that might be the problem.

My Muller Thurgau vine was planted last year. It had tiny bunches of grapes on it, but when did they decide to develop.... September.... I put it down to it being freshly planted that year and the weather being funny. It's also in a container and they're not supposed to do so well in them, but in had enough of leaves.
I'll probably put one Pinot noir in a container too and another in the ground. The Aldi mystery vine I don't know, maybe it's about time Britain got some Vitis sylvestris.

2012 was a bad year for grapes and figs. My crop was worthless. Grapes which were no bigger than peas and remained green rather than turning purple-black.
Figs scarcely larger than cherries. I noticed that a few people nearby have cut down their old fig trees this winter - probably disappointed with 2012's poor crop and not realising they are plats which like it hot, dry and sunny (2012 being cold, wet and dull).

Yeah, if we have a crap summer this year then I'm sticking one of those tent greenhouses over the vine and putting it in the sunniest spot available.

Sort of the best way to guarantee its seedless :-)

I'm very disappointed with the Wilko grape vines. I went to plant them and they had no roots. I could have taken cuttings from Pinot noir myself and grown them on their own roots for free rather than waste £5 on two of these. I suppose that's what happens if you buy the last two on the shelf.
I'll tidy them up and dip them in rooting hormone and see if I can get them to grow. If not then I'll bin them, Wilkinson is quite some distance away and I don't go there regularly.
