if you grow the thorny type i recommend planting it in a large pot before putting it in the ground, this reduces the unwanted ofspring and makes it easy to control. i have a thornless ruben the berrys are great when cooked but a bit to sharp to just eat. but i live on a private late acessing bridle ways where the wild ones are sweet and plentiful.
