How many rasp canes to a half barrell?

we have an old wooden whisky cask that i'm going to cut in two and plants with summer rasps.

how many should i plant per half barrell?

and do i do one per bamboo cane?

Grow as a wigwam with a bamboo cane for each rasberry cane.

If the barrel is about 25" or more, you may get away with 6 plants, but I would plant 4 in each half.

My mature raspberry plants are 3' wide: and they don't need canes to support them

each barrel is about 22" wide - so should i just put four in do you think?

and just normal garden soil or soil/compost mix?

I would use 4 canes for that size tub and normal soil will be fine. Give the soil some feed like Fish, Blood and Bone first.
