How do I control them?
I planted 6 canes the year before last - 3 autumn, and three summer fruiting. They grew a little large last year and I lost 'track' of which was which. Last autumn I made the mistake of cutting them all down and at the time I noticed a few 'shoots' coming up around them.
Well, I was on the plot last night, watering and noticed that the 'canes' now have a load of green foliage, but over and above that there are hundreds of smaller 'plants' growing up around them - some of which are about 6 ft away from the original canes I planted.
Do I cut all the smaller plants and hope that it encourages the main canes to grow/fruit, or do I just cut the 'random' plants into some form of manageable line or row?
