    Help!!

After 3 years in my allotment my apple trees (which cost me £25 each) have pruduced 1 apple respectively. My Victoria plum tree nothing at all. Friend in the next allotment bought £3 trees from Lidl, Tesco, etc and they have lots of fruit !! and been in the ground less time. They are dwarf trees though

SO my question is should I replace these non producers with dwarf trees? and I thought Victoria Plum Trees were infallible, where are my plums.

Will anyone recommed some trees for me please and a reliable source, the on-line choice is bewildering.

Dwarf rootstocks produce fruit quicker. Having said that, are you over-feeding your trees? If you do they will produce foliage rather than fruit. Also you need to consider the eventual size of the trees. Will the ones you have get too big for your plot?

Dwarf trees stop (or slow down) growing and start fruiting at a younger age.
But their ability to root deeply and survive harsh conditions (drought, deep frost, diseases etc) is much less.

Stop feeding/watering your existing trees to put them under a bit of stress. Stress is a great way to get a tree fruiting.

If reduced feeding/watering doesn't make them fruit, then prune the new growth very hard during the summer.

But remember the earlier the tree fruits, the smaller it's final size will be and the weaker it will be when faced with whatever mother nature throws at it.
