On my redcurrant, I've noticed a couple leaves inside the bush that's growing going yellow - the centres are still green (pic attached) - should I be concerned?

My AllGold Rasberry canes seem all to be growing new shoots fine, but one of them isn't producing anything - I've dig around it a bit and can't see anything growing up from it like the others.. would it be worth leaving it in, or should I get rid? How can I tell if it's dead - each cane seems woody, even the ones that are producing new growth!

Doesn't look as if anyone has an answer for you Chris, not sure if I have but am always trying to help where possible. With ref to the currant : it is normal to try and keep the centre as open as possible so if you think a branch looks iffy then just prune it out. It may just be the dry weather we have been having just lately. With the raspberry if it hasn't shown any life yet it isn't likely to now so I would dig it up and dispose of it along with the soil around it as it may have died from disease.

Re redcurrants: my leaves have had various colours over the last few years and I just pluck them off (or take a branch off if it's all really bad) and they do just fine. Crop very well in fact!

Some of my raspberries are flowering, some have no leaves on. After a foul winter, it is to be expected.

Wait another 3 weeks for warm weather. Too late to plant new canes now: a hot summer will stunt their growth (been there:-(
