  • Patio Apple Tree

    Hello!

I am looking for an eating apple tree that I can keep in a pot on a patio?

Do you know anywhere online I can get one from?

Thanks very much for your help.

A local garden centre or nursery would be the best option because you can hand-pick a nicely branched tree.
If you mail-order, you will simply get the next tree in line and you may be disappointed at the shape of the tree - bent trunks, knobbly grafts, awkward branch positions to name just a few things that could really spoil the looks as a decorative tree.
By the time you've added postage on top, it won't be any cheaper than what you'll find locally.
Also, in Wales, you're probably going to need a good level of scab and canker resistance, due to the excessive rainfall.

I posted a thread about indiginous (spelling?) species..

In particular, this post in that thread may be of interest.. I spent a lot of time talking to a nursery in North Wales about what would be suited - turns out the guy provides my local council with fruit trees. Admitidly your climate will be a bit nicer than mine, but these ones have good disease and scab resistance.

        Hi

My BIL got my two from wilkos several years ago and they are going great. The apples are not very big but very tasty.

The way I see it, if you want the rainbow you have got to put up with the rain!

you will have to go for a potted tree now. as FB has said you will find the best specimens in the garden centres one other thing if you buy by mail order you may well end up with the end of season rejects
