dont assume if you grow a fruit tree from seed it will grow to some monster which you cant control i grow a apple tree from seed about 15 years ago which produces masses of green size snooker ball apples every year which are not edible but the funny thing is this tree is only 6ft tall and 6ft wide and will not grow any taller a dwarf its pot luck what you get

      Hi Neil
If you are interested in growing your own Blackcurrent or Redcurrent. Then these are easy. All you need is to take a 8" cutting from the top of a friends bush and shove it in a pot of compost or directly in the ground. I did 8 last year and 7 have grown. This should satisfy your urge to grow your own.

Im not sure what time of year is best to do this, but last year a branch broke off my blackcurrent bush due to the weight of fruit. This is what I potted up.(cut it into 8)

My dad always says to take the cuttings late September and he has been growing them for 60 years or so.
