As long as they haven't shrivelled up and gone dry there is still hope

I'm really nervous about potting mine up now!

I've just been reading everything I can about growing melons in the vain hope that I manage to get some fruit this year.

I read that they don't like their roots disturbed, so sow into a largish pot and then plant straight out, no repotting. I've also read that you should plant out with the pots compost above the height of the soil, like a little island, I presume for the same reasons you make a little hill for courgettes.
"Orinoco was a fat lazy Womble"

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

No they are still very much 'wet' and not crispy at all, just completely floppy like a basset hounds ears!! Still no improvement this morning Have bought some peat pots - plan is to try again doing all different hings, direct in soil, in big pot, in peat pots, in normal pots, and see if any live!!

Last year I put a layer of paper in the pot before filling it up/sowing - like a paper pot. I didn't both this year though and the first one went fine. I think today is the day for melon no. 2 maybe this evening though so it's not so hot.
