I find small blueberry bushes very fragile. One of ours has been 3/4 killed by the winter.

Larger ones - I have Chandler - appear much more hardy - and easier to take cuttings from . I am trying for the first time this year. So far so good...

I just dump loads of composted leaves on the ground around them in March and feed sulphate of iron to acidify the soil. (ours is normal on top but heavy clay 0.5 metres down)

Both of mine died right back to twigs the first year I bought them (one last year, one this year), but both have regrown. Perhaps they don't like repotting.

I have a packet of azalea/rhododendron feed. Can I use that?

Azalea feed will be acidic so fine.

I would not feed blueberries with this as it sounds like a general feed and not one for acid loving plants.

If it is a solid feed I would remove the top 2 inches of compost and put fresh ericaceous in it's place, if it is a soluble feed then I would try and flush it through with rain water.

It may be too late, as the damage has been done to the roots, but worth giving it a go.
