I've had a couple of early ones. Not sure what variety, bought them at a car boot and a bit potatoey. The Cambridge favourites are in full flower. Love them but have to wait 2 or three weeks at a guess. Come back hot weather. Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

We have had 14 so far.
This is not me being weird and counting them or anything, my children HAVE to share them, and like to pick them for themselves, so we know how many they have had - or it's fisticuffs lol
I don't suppose there will be many fo me or OH

The current Mrs P and I have had a couple of handfuls of our earlies over the last week......I know it's been said many many times before but it has to be said again.....the sense of pride and satisfaction of eating something fresh off the plant (as well as the superior flavour etc) makes it all worth while. You can tell I'm a newbie :-)
Depending on the crop size, I am considering venturing into a bit of jam making.

Nope - nowhere near yet. Probably would be closer if the frosts hadn't blackened all the flowers. We have a few forming but a while to go yet. The wild ones in the back garden
are just starting to turn but they're only very ickle. Alpines still no where near flowering. Tiny - TINY, they are.

I had my strwberries in the greenhouse for a while after I bought the plants eaarlier this year. Shame I put them out perhaps a little too soon to be picking them now They are still in flower and I have quite a few green fruits on the plants and even a couple of runers. Now I know I should really cut the runners off 1st year but I want to increase my crops as only have 4 plants of 3 different varieties, I'm impatient for now so have already poked the runners in the soil and will cut their runners off them next year for the 1st year to let the plants establish a bit more. Come back sunshine I want strawberries soon!Last edited by Irie Jan; 29-05-2010, 02:21 PM.Live like you never lived before!
