  • Cherry tree dead?

Hi again, long time no post

got a cherry tree for Christmas and planted it in a massive pot, it had some leaves and 2 flowers buds and then about a month ago they all went brown and died :/ and there's been like sappy red stuff running down the tree is there anyway to see if it is still alive cos it a big pot and don't want to waste it if the tree isn't going to come back. I'm thinking it might of been that late frost that killed it but not sure. I'm hoping it will come back next year ;(

Scratch the bark off and if it's green then it's still got some life. The sappy stuff doesn't sound good though as this may indicate some disease.

Yea it's still green under the bark, the red stuff comes out of where the leaf buds fell off. I'll just give it lots of tlc come next spring and hope for the best :/ thanks for the reply

Neiller, are you sure it is red and not amber? The main symptom of cherry bacterial canker is oozing an amber gunk. If it is canker then it may not be dead yet but.......

Just editing to add a link to a bit of discussion on this problem. http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...tml#post644618

Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
