  • pommegrante puzzler

Hello folks, wonder if anyone out there has any experience with pommegrantes. All the lads & girls down my allotment thought I'd lost the plot (no pun intended) when I bought two pommegrante plants last summer from Aldi. "You cant grow them in this country", was the general comment, but I can tell you that they both overwintered well and are now fully leafed up and ready to go for a second season in my polytunnel. They are in 9" pots and that is where I intend them to stay for now, just wondered if they required any particular feed or compost. Both are healthy looking and about a foot tall, any info would be most welcome.

As they're from around here, I'd assume they need slightly acidic soil. And just 'cos they grow, because of the length of the growing season, I doubt you'll get fruit... Soz!

i have a pomegranate growing in the garden against a west facing wall ...it overwintered ok with a bit of fleece around it ..i have not given it any special attention - it has not yet flowered (but then neither have my pears - two years old but moved ). Keeping my fingers crossed that it will fruit eventually - it is quite pretty.

I have a couple of mini pomegranite plants, both identical when delivered, both flower, one gets fruit , one doesnt, the one i keep inside with growlights it doesnt fruit, the one outside does fruit, there only small fruit and i dont get many of them as plants are only 2 foot tall and the fruits only about 2 inch wide but taste fine.
They seem fine in the UK , i supose its the variety, i have no idea what they are as they came from ebay
