    i have 8 melon plants all with at least 3 plus melons on..two weeks ago i noticed it had some powdery moldew on the leaves but in the last two days the plants have totally shriveled up.the fruit is still attached what do you think i can do next ie will they recover,do i leave fruit on and just leave be HELP !!!

    crikey the canary islands - some of my melons/courgettes get mildew but they usually survive but with leaves still attached - they never die completely -if the melons are far enough on perhaps they will just ripen on their own? Worth trying......

      If the plants are shrivelled and dead then remove the melons and ripen indoors or in a greenhouse. In future seasons you could keep the mildew at bay with a weekly spray of diluted skimmed milk. 1 part milk to 10 water.

        thanks for the idea about the milk solution never heard of it before but will definately try that later in the year .

          I have used washing up liquid with water to treat my melons and cucs in the past. I thought i was winning the fight but it took so much effort that it got the better of me in the end. More ventilation is generally what helps and wetter conditions. Hope you save some plants, good luck
