    Hiya,

I had vine weevil in another of my redcurrants I have lifted it out of its pot and have shaken the compost out of it and gotten all of the eggs and larvae out that I could. Ive repotted in a fresh pot with fresh compost but what can I do with the old compost??

I had this problem with my strawberries. I scrubbed out the pot and binned the old compost. I've also used the nematodes in the newly potted up strawvberries and will do so again in the autumn to make sure they dont come back!!
If it ain't broke...fix it til it is!

I always cook compost if theres a chance its got anything in it, so i can reuse it without worrying , when i have a bonfire i put it in the fire , usualy in a steel can, but often sprinkled under the bonfire, it will mix with the embers get hot and kill anything in it

i can see vine weevil being a recurring problem for me. they wiped out my strawberrys last year. tried to claim my herbs but i managed to save them. now ive just found 2 of the adult bugs on my potato plants! which means no doubt they'll have layed egss in most of my pots again!

i went to the garden centre and the only vine weevil killer i could find couldnt be used on edibles. im going to have to use the nematodes coz its the only other thing i know of. can they be applied anytime of the year?
