Prunning Redcurrant and Blackcurrant bushes

I have two redcurrant and two blackcurrant bushes full of ripe fruit for the first time this year - hurrah!

I seem to recall that you prune the old branches out the bushes (which have all the berries on them) and then strip the berries into a bucket - brill - two jobs done in one.

BUT then I remembered that you prune black & red currants differently - and I can't remember how it should be done. A search (and a google, and a look on youtube for a video) has all served to confuse me further as advice seems to conflict!

What should I be doing??

Dunno on this one Hazel, it confuses me too. I have loads of redcurrants almost ready to pick and the bushes are getting a bit out of control.

I have loads of well rooted cuttings from redcurrants,blackcurrants and whitecurrants that I took last year. I'm hoping to plant them up in the autumn and try a bit of experimentation with the whites and reds.
I believe they CAN be grown on a single leg to make a standard. They can also be frown as cordons and espaliers I believe, so I may give it a go!
