New raspberry canes in a patio pot

I bought some Glen Ample raspberry canes from Aldi last year and put one in each of the three 12" square patio pots in full sun.

They are providing loads of fruit on the new cane that grew earlier in the year.

However, there are now 5 extra new canes coming through in each pot.

I know that I cut back this years fruiting cane (later in the year?) but should I split the canes after this main one has finished fruiting?

I would imagine 5 canes in one 12" pot would be too many next year.

You can just get away with 5 canes in a 12" pot, but it is watering that will be the problem. I would look to purchase those polypropylene growing bags they use for potatoes and replat in one of them.

Splitting the plant later is a great way of producing more plants and crop.

Are those the green plastic woven ones with handles? If they are, I have 3 of those that I am growing potatoes in at the minute.

Yes, They are great for growing fruit in and you can move them easily.
