Just got off my sick bed for a wander round the fruit trees and am amazed to find that neither the apples or the pears (any of them) have dropped any fruit at all whilst I have been incapacitated. They are all groaning with what I consider to be too many fruits. Is this normal? Should I manually thin now, post haste? Never had this before.

Sorry to hear you've been ill, Sarra.
If it is any consolation, my apples didn't have much of a June drop either. I am giving them a talking to about making it a July drop instead. Some of them are listening, but one isn't. Trouble is, as soon as I start to manually thin them out, the last one drops off to join the others! I'm going to wait and see.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I was going to leave the little apples for the birds thinking they might leave my soft fruit alone but they obviously prefer rasps and strawberries the little b*****s
