I like your blog. I like how you're just so 'direct' and to the point, always chuckle at the odd word or two in there
Thank you very much.
I dont like like to beat round the bush, excuse the pun. Lifes too short when you have a garden that needs you. I have only just come in and i still had more to do.
Hi
I'm growing 'Sweetheart' in my mini greenhouses. Loads of flowers and fruits forming so will sadly have to start culling some of them soon. I usually restrict them to 4 or 5 per plant.

I have so many and the plants just keep growing no matter how much you pinch it out!
Hi Bountyhunter,
glad your having such success, I'm about to look in on your blog.
As a first timer for growing melons I asked a question on this site but as of this posting nobody has answered,so had to ask elsewhere on another forum that I use.
My charentaise melons are looking great, with lots of flowers but just wanted to know if it was best to stop them!
I will certainly grow them again next year and perhaps another variety.
I stop mine because the plant needs to concentrate all its efforts into producing good sized fruit and the plant goes a bit wild if i dont. Once i can see that i have about 10 babies growing i pinch out all the tips. I dont know why though as they just keep coming back lol
Once my fruits are golf ball sized then i try to keep just those on the plant. Its not easy as they sprout prolifically. Often i find i lose half of my melons but if i get 4 on a plant that are a good size i feel i am doing ok.
Hi,
love your blog, always think it would be nice to do one, but I'm sure I'd forget to go back to it!
Both my melons have got 4 good sized fruit on them, not far off from the size you buy in the shops, so when do you know when there ready?
