I was trying to leave my peaches until fully ripe but have noticed some have a small mould patch near the stalk. The kernel is decayed and in one I found an earwig. Do you think the tree is infected and shall I remove all fruit just in case the condition spreads. I feel rather gutted.

I don't know much about peaches, but I'm aware that apart from leaf curl (which is what puts me off growing them!) peaches can develop a split/hole in the stalk end and a rotten stone, as a result of pollination problems/inbred pips, or as a result of erratic/inadequate/excessive water supply, or as a result of an unsuitable soil pH.

Yikes...I'm very very new to peaches too...but my gut feeling is that you should get the semi ripe ones off the tree and rescue what you can.
Maybe stew some of them with a few raspberries- then freeze???
Then see what the others do naturally."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
